Every training session needs an event type. This is just the name or topic of the event. It helps keep your training events organised.
When you set up an event, you’ll need to pick an event type and a course name. If the event type you want isn’t in the list, don’t worry, you can create a new one.
⚠️Important: To access the events editor, you'll need the relevant permissions. If you need permissions, raise a new support case to request this.
Create a new Event Type
Sign in to the platform.
Click Events.
Click the cog icon.
Click the + icon next to Event Type.
Type in the event title.
The rest of the form is optional, but you may find the options useful for setting up your event type. See below.
Category: Used to group event types together if they share a common theme.
Requirements: You can list events a user must complete first, before booking on this event. Useful if there's more than one part to the training.
External reference: You can record an external reference to link to another system or provider.
What to expect: Allows you to explain what can be expected from the event. This is visible when a learner views and books an event.
Active: The on and off toggle allows you to manage the active status of the event type. Turning the toggle off will archive the event types you no longer use.
7. Click Save.
You can now set up a new event with the new Event Type you created.
Add attachments to an Event Type
You can upload documents to an event type, which means any users attending that event type will see the attachment. For example, this is useful for events like inductions, where information doesn't often change between sessions.
Sign in to the platform.
Click Events.
Click the cog icon.
Locate the event type.
Click the + icon next to Event Type.
Click the 3 dots next to the event type and click Attachments.
Click Upload, and select the document.
Who can see the Event Type?
You can restrict who can see the event type on the calendar. For example, this is useful to manage the visibility of training aimed at only management or head office staff.
Sign in to the platform.
Click Events.
Click the cog icon.
Click the + icon next to Event Type.
Locate the event type.
Click the 3 dots next to the event and click Who Can See This?
Type in the name of the user group in the search box and select it when it appears.
Click Done.
🤓Tip: Can't see any user groups to pick from? This handy guide will help you create a user group to appear in the events editor.
