.The Care Certificate is designed for new workers joining health or adult social care who have not had previous training or experience in the sector. Employers can also choose to offer it to other staff members. It includes 15 basic standards for new care workers and should be part of a thorough induction programme.
The 15 standards are:

Duty of care.
Equality and diversity.
Work in a person-centred way.
Communication.
Privacy and dignity.
Fluids and nutrition.
Awareness of mental health, dementia, and learning disabilities.
Safeguarding adults.
Safeguarding children.
Basic life support.
Health and safety.
Handling information.
Infection prevention and control.
Standard 16 – Awareness of Learning Disabilities and Autism
Our Care Certificate course does not currently cover Standard 16. Your organisation needs to decide how to meet this requirement.
We offer eLearning courses on Autism Awareness and Learning Disabilities. You can also request access to the Oliver McGowan Tier 1 eLearning course, which we host on our platform. For more information, refer to the Oliver McGowan course help guide.
Theory
The theory part of the Care Certificate involves an eLearning course completed on our platform. This part covers the essential topic modules.
Practical
The practical part of the Care Certificate is the Care Certificate Workbook, which covers the 15 standards listed above. This is a physical workbook that can't be completed online and must be printed and filled out by hand. Each standard represents the practical application of the topics covered in the eLearning course and must be signed off by a manager to confirm competent completion.
The individual will attain the full Care Certificate qualification only once both the theory and practical components are complete.
